DEREK KIMES
About Derek Kimes
I grew up in Northwest Arkansas in a family that loved the Lord and faithfully served in the church. I heard the gospel week after week in church, but it wasn’t until the summer before 6th grade that I felt conviction for my sin. While at a kids camp among all my friends who thought I was a Christian, broken over my sin with tears running down my face, I cried out to God for forgiveness and believed the Gospel.
In 2001 my family moved to Burleson Texas as my dad stepped into full-time vocational ministry and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. While in high school the Lord began to stir in my heart in significant ways that led to me surrender to the Lord’s call on my life for vocational ministry.
After graduating, I went to Dallas Baptist University and served in student ministry while earning my bachelors degree in Biblical Studies. While at DBU, I met my wife Rachel and we were married the summer after graduation in 2010.
I started my masters in Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and I began serving as a student minister in Burleson. During my 8 years of student ministry we welcomed twin boys (Noah & Levi) and a daughter (Joanna) into our family.
In 2018 the Lord called me to plant what would become Trailview Church in the Crowley and Burleson area. The preparation for and planting of Trailview has been the most formative time in my life. The Lord has planted us in the Crowley and Burleson area to reach those who do not know Jesus as Savior and Lord and to build a community of believers who display the Gospel in their love for one another.
In my free time, I love all things outdoors: sports, fly fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and coaching my boy’s baseball team, as well as fun times connecting with friends over meals, a drink, a cigar, or board games.
Hope for Trailview Church
My deepest hope for Trailview Church is that we would be a people who are so transformed and passionate about Jesus that we cannot help but live as everyday ordinary missionaries in our community. And that as we do, the Lord would multiply the fruit in new believers and people growing in their faith.
